In our area, some back roads don't seem to get any service at all and it's up to the locals to keep the roads clear and driveable. We were house sitting for some neighbours last year and nearly got high centered in our old Jeep from all the snow.

You're definitely right about the back roads having their own special beauty though. There is plenty of stunning landscapes hidden away for the locals to enjoy peacefully. -Aimee
