in #onerace7 years ago (edited)

Philippines is home of different varieties of wonderful marvels lurking in this small country state. It also possesses a vast supply of distinct wonders that includes, cuisines and delicacies, tourist attractions, festivals, agricultures, and a lot more, but in my today's blog, I'm going to tackle the flower heritage in the Philippines.

In this country a lot of people (it could be male or female but, mostly female) indulge themselves in growing flowers because as what we commonly perceive, they grew flowers because for, decorations, ornaments, business, to have something to brag to their neighbors, (well, weird alternative, but in some cases hahahah) but as what the anthophiles really say, it could soothe their minds into something on which they can't seem to fathom what it is. They just seem to love the flowers and they don't know the exact reason why, but the truth is, they just can't hide the passion mingling inside them.

Way back to our ancestor's ancestor, they had possessed this talent and made this their expertise until the passion inside them grew roots and seeds and gave birth to a lot more people possessing a talent so common yet exquisite. Yielding this talent is not an easy task to do 'cause you have to take extra careful of the flowers you have in hands. A single mistake can have a grave consequences. Filipinos seem to not mind this, instead they continue to develop, nourish, and feed their talent with experience until they all got it right. My fellow countrymen seem to love flowers so much until some festivals( in honor of the flowers) are celebrated at certain places in the Philippines, these are some of them:

  • In Baguio City a festival called Panagbenga is celebrated annualy during the whole month of Februarythe whole month of February, it is yet one of the most prestige festival held in the country (in my humble opinion)

  • Bulaklakan Festival is celebrated in Muntilupa City every January 1

  • Halamanan Festival is held in the municipality of Guiginto and was first established in 1999, it is annually celebrated during January 23

  • And lastly, The Flores de Mayo, or the flowers of May, is celebrated throughout the month of May in the Philippines

This is the only Festivals in the Philippines that associates Flowers that I currently know hahahaha

My mom is a big fan of growing flowers, our mini lawn is an evidence because it is packed with flowers in different varieties. Growing and nourishing it is not an easy task to accomplish to tell you though, because I get to experience it. Whenever my mom needed help about her flowers I'm the one or my sister she is calling. She called me one time and told me to get some healthy soils in order for her to transfer the newly sprouted flowers she had. So I get a shovel, then a bucket (for the soil) and a hoe then started digging and collecting some soils under the heat of the sun. I began complaining inside me cause the soil seems to solidify and hard to shovel it but with the help of the hoe, It made it a little easier, I was sweating a lot at that time though. When the bucket is full, I gave it to her then told me to get another bucket. I filled the bucket more than 5 times until she said to stop. I was about to go inside the house when she called me again to help her put the sprouts in the pot. It was absolutely tiring cause you need to have a lot of stamina supply in your system to do that, unlucky for me, because I'm a couch potato, I get tired easily and find it hard to do. My mom continuously took care of her flowers, and whenever she sees a flower in a flower shop that captures her being, she'll definitely buy it and put it her collections.

The point here is, a lot of Filipinos is a fan of growing flowers. Even if it ain't an easy task to do, they continuously fuel themselves with passion in order to do so. That's why we we need to give credits to them. Flowers are part of Mother Nature's construction and our fellow anthophiles are there, ready to nurture the beauty of it.
