🎶 Did You Know That There's A New Songwriter's Challenge Where The Winner Gets A $599 USD Guitar! 🎶

So as some of you may have heard the whispers of the new challenge coming to the Open Mic family, well here it is - @luzcypher announced its launch three days ago, so there's still time to enter!

This awesome new challenge is designed to do just that, it's a challenge to see who out of all that enter can consistently create a new and compelling song for each weeks chosen theme - we want to challenge you because the sheer awesomeness of the prize demands it.

On the point of this amazing prize, nows the time for everyone to head on over and give a big hug and follow the phenomenally generous @meno - he is a fairly new steemian but has made some big waves in that time, especially with his entries in the Open Mic contest!

@meno has graciously donated this epic prize, just so you guys understand we're talking a beautiful acoustic/electric guitar and hard case valued at $599 USD! (including free shipping within USA)

I mean this is an incredible prize, so of course we expect you to have to work a little bit for your efforts - but seriously get on over to @meno's page and shower him with some much deserved love, this guy is all about the music.

So how does this new challenge work?

The challenge will run for 8 weeks, during that time each week @luzcypher will make an announcement post of that week's theme.

Each week the judges will decide on a new theme for the challenge, this is to ensure all entries are new - this ensures all participants are playing on an equal playing field in regards to material.

Each week the judges will write a top 5 selection post from the valid entries of that week and from those top five entries, a top 3 will be selected and announced by @luzcypher.

The judges consist of @meno the idea's man behind this brilliant challenge and supplier of the amazing prize, @passion-ground, myself and of course the man behind Open Mic @luzcypher!

So what are the rules?

• The challenge will run for 8 consecutive weeks.
• Each week @luzcypher will announce the new week's Theme - this week's theme is "Broken Mirror"
• You can enter as many or as few times as you like, however the less you enter the fewer chances you have to gain points overall.
• This is for New and Original songs written specifically for this contest, this includes both music and lyrics.
• No covers and no parodies will be considered as a valid entry - again we are after original songs here.
• Every entry requires a live video recording of someone performing the original song.
• Every entrants post must also contain the lyrics to their original entry, you can perform it in any language but all lyrics must also be google translated into english in the original post to qualify.
• Only live performances will be considered as valid entries.
• The title of your post must contain the words OpenMic Songwriters Challenge Week # (current week number)
• In the video entry you must say the words OpenMic Songwriters Challenge Week # (current week number)
• You must add the link to your post in @luzcyphers weekly announcement post!
• Upvote the weekly OpenMic Songwriters announcement post by @luzcypher.
• All songs must be original and about that week's theme, entries not related to the theme will not be considered as valid.
• All entries must use the tag "openmic" as first tag and "openmicsongwriters" as their second tag.

Now here's some great news for our current Open Mic entrants, you can use your entry for the Open Mic Songwriters Challenge to enter the Open Mic contest!

But there are a few rules you need to be sure to follow to ensure your entry is valid in both contests...

So if you want to enter both the Open Mic Contest and the Songwriter's Challenge:

• Ensure you use openmic as your first tag and openmicsongwriters as your second tag!
• You must title your post Open Mic Contest Week # and Open Mic Songwriters Challenge Week # (for example this week could look like this: Open Mic Contest Week 60 and Open Mic Songwriters Challenge Week 1 - Original Song Titled "Broken Mirror")
• Your video entry must contain the words "Open Mic Contest Week #" and Open Mic Songwriters Challenge Week #" at the beginning of the video (for example this week you would say "This is my entry for the Open Mic Contest week 60 and also the Open Mic Songwriters Challenge week 1")
• Cover all of these requirements and those listed above and you will have yourself a valid entry into both contests!

This week's theme is: Broken Mirror

With each weeks theme we are hoping to inspire our songwriters creativity, you can take the wording literally or metaphorically - the choice is all up to you.

As is the style and sound of the song, we give a theme each week to ensure all entries are new songs written for the purpose of this challenge - it's not really a challenge if you're just pulling songs from your existing catalogue!

You can perform this song in any genre or style of music, the only restriction each week is with the theme.

Well in all honesty I believe we have some truly amazingly talented songwriters here on steemit, but even the most experienced can feel a bit daunted by the prospects of having to write 8 new songs in 8 weeks.

But I put it to you that with the fine tuned influence of a skilled musician and a weekly theme to help inspire your creativity, we will have some really amazing and unique entries - and best of all you can challenge your preconceived notions, of what you can produce as a musician.

We are hoping to inspire the creativity that lurks in all musicians, to challenge the themes you may commonly stick to - we want to encourage everyone to participate as this is a great way to grow and evolve as a musician.

Even if you've never written a song before, here is the perfect motivation and opportunity - you never know the gold stored in a mind unchallenged!
