Prizes

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

Victor Hugo

steemit_open_mic_50.png

It is very important to say the words "Steemit Open Mic Week 50" at the beginning of your recorded video and as the first words of your post title. Posts without that at the beginning of the title are hard to find in the feed and we may miss your post. Posts without those words spoken in the beginning of your live, recorded video do not qualify for prizes.

If your song is an original song by you it is very important you put the word "original" in the title and "originalmusic" as the second tag of your post####

Here is an example of a correctly titled post.

These requirements make it easier for judges and curators to find your posts and reward you for original songs. Ignoring these requirements only hurt your chances of earning rewards.

2 Votes = Win Win

You can help support Steemit Open Mic by making sure to vote two times.

  • Once on this post so the payouts for the winners will make this contest self-supporting. We're very grateful @pfunk is helping out right now, but helping this post with upvotes gives more rewards to the winners and the contest will be self supporting.

  • And vote a 2nd time on the link of your favorite entry's post found in the comments below. This will help support all the musicians that entered, even if they didn't win the contest.

  • In fact, some entries earned very well, even though they didn't win. And that's good because musicians need to eat.

**Winners from week 49 will be announced **, Monday, September 11th, 2017 so be sure to follow @luzcypher for updates and thanks for everyone that entered, upvoted and resteemed Steemit Open Mic.

Steemit Open Mic Process

Keeping it short and sweet, here is the flow of considerations for the Steemit Open Mic contest:-

  • Need to promote community participation in the spirit of Steemit Open Mic night.

  • So.. Steemit Open Mic submissions in comments, community voting and reblogging is encouraged.

  • However, we need to avoid public vote abuse and keep a certain standard for Steemit Open Mic night.

  • So.. community voting as first filter, before internal voting.
  • Another problem: late submissions are usually disadvantaged as they get less attention on the contest post.
  • So.. we've tried to mitigate such a problem by including unique votes of Steemit Open Mic submissions in their own blog posts.
  • IT IS CRUCIAL WHEN YOU RECORD YOUR VIDEO THAT YOU SAY "STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 50" AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR VIDEO We're looking for real live performances for this contest. Some people have posted old videos from YouTube and it's difficult to verify that it's really them performing. In the future they will be disqualified from the contest.

  • If you want a chance to earn the prize, make a new video and say STEEMIT OPEN MIC Week 50 at the start of it.

  • You can sing acapella if you don't play an instrument or sing to a recording if you want and still enter Open Mic.

New Music Category Communities

Music Category communities are coming together on Steemit and if you're a music lover, please show support and join in the fun. Here are a few new places to find great music.

Suggestion: openmic must be the first tag to enter open mic, but adding other music related tags (such as music, music-trail) may help your post get more attention and perhaps even get curated by those music curators.

If your song is an original song, add orginalmusic as your 2nd tag. This will help curators know it is an original song which currently pays a Steem bonus to you.

Thank you all for the participation!

Thank you for the positive support from the Steemit community and a special thanks to @kevinwong for his guidance, encouragement and support and @verbal-d for writing a song that inspired the idea and @pfunk for helping and supporting Open Mic.

Please contact @luzcypher in SteemitChat for any further questions you may have and you can post your entry there too. https://steemit.chat/channel/openmic

Cheers Bucky.

Thanks there Oliver. Looking forward to your spot... got my tissues ready! 😥

great music sir @steelygeoff so relaxing ..its like im isitting in a beach sipping my favorite juice while listening to your music :)

Very nice sounds. Makes me want a tropical drink now.

Me too nice thought. Time to order something. Cheers

I was just thinking today how much I miss hearing songs with steel guitar.
Very nice! Thank you!

Thank you Tom. Appreciate you listening. 👍

oh man this one really shone a light into my heart. What a beautiful melody. Thank you so much - this is a wonderful thing to listen to while I feed my baby. Thing Two likes it as well!

Thank you, @steelygeoff,

I enjoyed your performance. I also found this very intriguing, because I recognize the tune to this song as that of an old hymn, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." I was able to find a steel guitar rendition of it here:

Furthermore, I found that the tune is attributed to one Charles C. Converse.

If you should have any references to the original folk-song source, I'd appreciate it as I have (so far) been unable to find a match in that area of searching...

Kindest regards!,

- @creatr

😄😇😄

@creatr

Very cool track @papa-pepper!

I keep seeing this YUNK on Steemit. What is it exactly?

According to the URBAN DICTIONARY

The yunk term used on the social media steemit (A social media that based in Steem cryptocurrency) for a community of people who support themselves and the same cause trough the #yunk by posting relevant and irrelevant new and original content of quality. I used as a verb that's yunking is awesome in the strangest way, unique.
It's started at Steemit chat around 3 hours of random conversation on 7/12/2017. Even though there are different definitions on the word/term, the main purpose started just for fun, by a group of users followed by the "motheryunk" so created the first post tagged #yunk.

What to know about them? This people might try to give important feed back to your post and become part of your followers and create a connection with you and usually support your steemit grow or be there for you upvoting or resteeming if the content is at the Yunker standard, quality contents will reach higher upvotes than in a normal #, or that's the intention, because people in the #yunk community are more than just bloggers, the yunkers get engaged in the posts.

Some people say it was inspired on a user, however this person didn't motivate it until it escape from his hands and accepted the term, now some memes and even tunes are available.
There is also a guide on how to Yunk and Yunkosexuality , used to express attraction for the yunker. The trend became a High standard for steemers. When the fall of the steem value, yunk finds it ways to make the community a wonderful place.

"I am here for the Yunks and stayed for the content"
"Hey I'am reyunking this comment".
"yunkvoting this awesome content".
"So, Who can Yunk? only cool and awesome people do".
"Hey Yunk that up."
"Yunk4yunk "
"yunk yunk yunk"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Yunk

LOL, that is funny that the word is gaining so much traction.

I suppose I'm a Yunker myself then. That's Yunked up. Now that I know I guess I'll get Yunky with it.

ahahahahaha yup you got the Yunk!

Hilarious!! but quite amazing!

Oh dude, one of my favourite songs of the 90's dance genre... I couldn't watch the video though... staring at your chin made me uncomfortable haha so I just listened and looked at space pictures.

Now I HAVE to listen to it!

I'm back singing in my car this week.
As I drove through the streets near where I work,
I decided to use it as a backdrop for an old song from a famous Broadway musical.
This is from the show "My Fair lady."
The song is called, "On The Street Where You live."
Thank you for stopping by and listening.

Nice it sound like someone getting ready to fight in a medival war. I'm already earing cellos, timpanis and brass. You should keep this idea and build over it !

Thanks @michaelstellaire I know what you mean. A full orchestration would work well for this :) when @ezzy turns this story into a movie I will score it for him :)
Thanks for listening
Bucky

Made me want to dance. Thanks.
