America in an Arms race with its community Police!!!!!

Across the United States our Police and Law Enforcement departments are forced to wage an arms race against the very communities they are sworn to protect. Law enforcement is now continually adding new weapon and defense technology that can withstand small WMD attacks. We are seeing the militarization of our police departments with the use of assault weapons, bombs, robots, drones, and the armament to protect themselves from the same (We are paying for this with our tax dollars).

When the (Assault Weapon) military weapon purchase ban was lifted in the US, a flood of military weapons were purchased and unprecedented profit was made by the manufactures. At the same time, a conservative movement with its message based on fear mongering became the main stay for the white, male, religious, and over 35yr old American. While US crime overall was on the decline, the conservative media was still able to instill fear by exaggerating and over reporting on lesser crime statistics, especially crimes committed by minorities and undocumented immigrants.

The first step (baby step) to ending the current arms race that we are waging against ourselves, in our own communities, with our own police departments, is to ban the purchase of military grade weapons, ammunition, and armor. Our police (Fathers/Mothers/Sisters/Brothers) do not want to fight against this sort of weapon, and recent events show that they can-not.

The Republican lead Congress and Senate has failed to act.
