Limitations

I must admit that I am quite impressed by this platform.
At a time when I most need to speak openly.
And I'm really amazed by that.

I remember a few months ago, when my more active presence here began, when I came across a post in which a video of a certain political party in a certain country was published, which talked about the current so pressing problem and situation. There was talk openly, with data and evidence.

There was open talk about a forbidden subject.

And I was like "Wow!"

On the one hand, I saw, listened to and looked at research-based data that has been collected, that has occurred in a foreign country. Data that will never be shown on television, data that one has to dig very long and purposefully on the Internet to find. But he probably won't find them, and he won't start looking for them, because he won't know they exist at all.

Why I was so impressed and amazed?
Because in the last months and years, people's mouths are being shut on many topics.
And I'm not just talking about FB , although FB is the purest example for it.
And I'm not just talking about this one so serious and dangerous topic.

I understand this type of platforms as something like daily blogging. This and that happened today, I felt this, I saw this, I experienced this, I learned this...
(Or I understand them that way because that's what I need.)
But my day may not have gone very well. Maybe my neighbor still doesn't greet me for unknown reasons, maybe someone shot at my cat, maybe my father got seriously ill with symptoms of соvid after a booster dose, maybe I tried to understand the words once again of the new Prime Minister of the country, and again I could not understand anything from his chatter...

But in most cases and in most places I have no right to write about it.

Yet life is ups and downs. It can't be just ups. If a person thinks that it is only ups, then he uses some strong substances every day.
And if he wants to make others think, believe, or share the same thing, this tends to abuse.
And I'm fed up with that.

I did not spend much of my life during communism, but I lived with the consequences and traces of it (overt or covert). To this very day.
And I don't know if people who haven't lived in such a country and in such a regime can understand what it means to shut your mouth and be afraid to talk.
Because people who have been through it all can hardly be scared now. Or deceived. Although they see that humanity is spinning in a vicious circle of limitations and fears and it is difficult to get out of it.
(Now do you understand why Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia, for example, have such a low vaccination rate.)

Yet, my post was about this platform. Where I can share my thoughts and experience without fear.
And I thank you for that!

steem.jpgSoul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you.

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to small and not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|

I totally agree with you...freedom of speech tends to become a luxury nowadays...I firmly believe that through healthy debate, new ideas are born and we evolve in general

I am a strongly believer of the quote that saying :

"I may not agree with your opinion but I will defend to the end your right to be able to express it"

It is a luxury indeed. And I'm even more amazed by platforms that claim to be independent and free, but in fact forbid you to say a single bad word against the status quo.
I believe too that debate is the most useful and healthy thing, a tool and an ability that has been given to us as human beings, which should always be used in the best way. If we don't use it, what are we more than animals/beasts?
