"STOP OVERFISHING"
As we all know that our planet has 70% of water bodies i.e. oceans and these oceans have their own ecosystem and millions of aquatic plants species. Out of these majorities of living species are fishes. There are millions of people in all over the planet who solely depend on the oceans for their food and income and the demand for sea food is growing as the more people make sea foods a part of their diet, the pressure to meet their demand directly comes over ocean.
Now a days fishing is a multi-million dollar industry having well equipped ships and technology enables us to explore new areas and deep water to meet the demands of sea food. By exploring the more fishes with hi-tech equipment we are disturbing the marine ecosystem.
Big-name stars are getting their kits off to send the message that European waters are being drastically over fished, which is putting marine ecosystems under threat and could even take food off our plates. The situation remains "very worrying" for fish populations in Mediterranean and Black Sea in particular.
Few of the stars get naked for the love of fish and attract the world over this serious issue-
Gillian Anderson and conger eel
Greta Scacchi and cod
Judi Dench and lobster
Ben Kingsley and squid
These are the big names of Entertainment Industry & they get naked just to deliver the message that overfishing is putting marine ecosystems at risk.
Many scientists believe that the threat faced by our marine ecosystem is much larger than any other environmental threat like increasing pollution. Over fishing can have adverse effect on marine biodiversity and completely disrupt the food chain.
Take a look at these facts: the global fishing fleet is 2.5 times larger than what the oceans can sustainably support. Already, 52% of the world's fisheries are fully exploited and 24% are overexploited, depleted or recovering from collapse.
Many of us must watch movie “HAPPY FEET’’ which also raised the problem of over fishing by which the penguin population is declining due to less supply of fishes for them. As mentioned earlier, millions of people only depend on fishing for their livelihood and nutrition needs.
Many species of fishes are now endangered and on the edge of their extinction due to over fishing. What is required our environmental laws, safeguards that how much fishing is legal and required.
Solving these problems is not easy and will required collective efforts to restore the marine ecosystem.
What do you think over this issue?
Over fishing should be restricted and required strict laws to balance the stability of the marine ecosystem.
Exactly bro..
It's very alarming situation especially for Mediterranean sea and black sea.
Yeah ,love your articlE, we should not ignore it
Thanks man. 😊
