padmavat beats Baahubali 2’s records in just 19 days in New Zealand

Just when one thought that Baahubali 2 is India’s biggest film till date, here’s another update on the same. The period drama has exceeded the lifetime box-office collection of Baahubali 2 in New Zealand in just 19 days. This unimaginable victory abroad is redeeming for Padmaavat, recalling all the protests and controversies surrounding it back home.

A popular trade analyst took to Twitter to reveal the numbers saying, “#Padmaavat with US$614,289 overtakes #Baahubali2’s US$588,399 at the #NewZealand Box office to become the All-time No.1 Indian Movie in #NZL.” As per the trade gurus, the real reason behind film’s major successful run is due to its pre-release buzz as well as its print format in 2D, 3D and Imax 3D.

Speaking of the film’s overall global collections, the magnum opus is all set to enter the 500 crore club anytime soon. Commenting on Padmaavat’s roaring success, Deepika Padukone recently told a daily, “As far as my film is concerned, I had said this earlier as well, there’s no stopping it. I think it deserves all the kind of love and blessings that we are receiving. I think box-office numbers are again a testament of that and it's not over yet.” Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat had hit the screens on January 25, 2018 and stars Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead.
