Parenting Routine

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world. The responsibility associated with being a mother can be overwhelming for some. Some women find that they can juggle a professional life with being a parent; however, other women choose to become stay at home parents and spend the bulk of their time caring for their children. It's important to remember that being a stay at home mom is not an easy job and women deserve the utmost respect for choosing this career path. Organizing your day is just as important as a mom as it is for an advertising executive. Meetings, appointments, lunch, dinner and everything in between must be micromanaged, along with monitoring play time and wiping dirty hands. Finding a routine that works for you is essential to successful and fulfilling parenting.

A Little Time for Yourself

Raising a child is a job that never ends. However it's important for stay at home moms to remember to take time for themselves and tend to their emotional and psychological health. The most effective parents are aware of their wants and needs. Parents who are less stressed and more emotionally satisfied tend to be better parents. Taking some time out of every day to devote to your individual needs is paramount in staying healthy and happy. Many women can lose themselves doing so much for their families that they take little time for themselves, resulting in illnesses, discontent and emotional resentment. Respecting yourself is a great gift you can give to your children as a house-mom.

Talk to Some Adults

One of the rigors of being a stay at home mom is immersing yourself in the world of your children for 75 percent of your day. However it's necessary to maintain some adult contact in between juggling the kids' busy schedules and your daily workload. Soccer practice, ballet practice, cooking dinner, changing diapers, checking homework and nursing sicknesses take time and energy. At the end of the day, some moms find that they crave adult interaction. Maintain relationships, whether they be with a spouse, friends or other moms. It's important to have contact with adults and stay connected with others your own age. Fitting this into the daily schedule can be difficult, so schedule a weekly date with friends or your spouse to ensure your satisfaction as a mother.
