PARC DES ÎLES

A historical sequence and territory
The Drocourt Coking plant, a former mining site commissioned in 1930, has become over the years one of the largest in Europe. As soon as its last dismantling is completed, the deconstruction of the site is immediately envisaged. In 2004, the coking plant was completely dismantled and partial depollution was undertaken by Charbonnages de France. In 2006, the Hénin-Carvin Agglomeration Community then planned to transform this 160-hectare wasteland into a landscaped park that would contribute to a new perception of the mining area.

This is how part of the park can be seen on one of the two Carboniferous mountains <3

And in this picture you can see the mountain they are on, part of the park and the other carboniferous mountain
Unfortunately I can't post videos either ... the park is great for spending time in a quiet place with warm people
As for climbing the Carboniferous Mountains, from what I've noticed on the signs, it's a bit illegal, but there are places where people have created an access area.
I went to this park for the pleasant feeling left by the view and the flowing water
it's a wonderful area and not many people know about the existence of this park, I didn't know either until I was looking for a place to spend a few hours on the weekend and I found the most beautiful place where you can find yourself.
The park has a playground for the little ones but also fitness equipment
and for new visitors there are some wonderful creations such as an iron wasp, a meteorite and a Dutch bunker
in addition to these wonderful things there is also a botanical garden and in a more secluded corner a few beehives
I hope I made you curious and maybe someday you will step on this beautiful territory
Thank you for your attention, have a nice day
