Turkish Coffee at Turkish Delight in Anchorage

in #partiko6 years ago (edited)

We were so spoiled living in metropolitan areas like Boston and DC, so it's been a while since we've been able to enjoy eclectic fare. Alaskan food is generally less exciting. It is, after all, a rugged wilderness.

Thanks to Yelp!, we found Turkish Delight, a Mediterranean restaurant that serves fresh falafel, pita, and the like! Their odd hours had left us turned away several times, but we finally made it.

In the photo, I got a Turkish coffee, which I haven't had in years. My wife got a lentil soup. We both got falafel pockets, which were flavorful and reminded us of the many cultures we left behind on the east coast.

Btw, how's everything going on after moving to Alaska?

I've never had Turkish coffee but omg I would love to try it someday!

It's good. It reminds me of espresso, in that it's usually served in a demitasse. However, I believe it's the only style of coffee that's meant to be boiled. At the end, there's a kind of muck, as the grinds are like dust and collect at the bottom, so you don't drink it to the last drop. ☕
