Toronto Steem Creators Meet and Greet (Tuesday Evening) - Sharing Some Gold Nuggets

in #partiko6 years ago (edited)

Met some awesome people last night and learned a ton!

I gained some really valuable insights from the Steemians I met last night and I'd like to share what I gained from those so that other Steemit newbies (and maybe even some veterans) can benefit from them as well!

  1. Be authentic with your posting. Post about things that you're passionate about and that you want to post about regardless of who might be watching and voting. Your authenticity is what will shine through, pull people in and have them wanting to connect with you.

  2. Try out Partiko as your Steemit interface. On top of up votes, using this app for posting/commenting/curating generates points which eventually be exchangeable for up votes. It's a streamlined interface that makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Haven't figured out how to get it on my Macbook yet though (anyone know if this is possible?)...

  3. Even though it's a digital space, it's still about who you know and how much you're willing to contribute. Make an effort to get to in-person meetups to make some solid connections and learn a ton really efficiently! (Self-high-five for attending the meetup last night!)

  4. Big videos to upload? Use Handbrake to compress them while maintaining quality. Wizardry for the win.

  5. Listen. When we're speaking, we are pulling from past experience and therefore aren't learning new things. Open your awareness to new ideas and perspectives by saying less and listening more. So powerful.

  6. Get on Discord to more easily connect with Steemit communities that have similar interests and values.

Are you at the Steemit Toronto Creators Conference? Any gold nuggets from your attendance today that you'd like to share?

For those I met at the meet and greet last night, did I forget anything?

Special shout out to @steemcafe for the invite!

Stay tuned ;)

So methodic and well organized this post, it almost seems like it was written by an engineer :P

Hahaha. Caught, ring-handed! (Canadian engineers wear an iron ring on their working-hand pinky) ;P
