Butterfly effect - if you could change the past…
If you could change the past what would you change and what result would you expect from it?
Butterfly effect describes a phenomenon that a small occurrence can result in a big change of the course of the universe. We all know the movie that shows the outcome can be both negative and positive.
I would choose a different course of study and become a psychologist. But if I did that I wouldn’t meet my best friend who’s been a real blessing.
I wouldn’t get involved with that guy from my high school. But then I would never know how pure love can be, I would never learn the lesson and grow.
I would never smoke the first cigarette. But maybe I would never learn how hard it is to overcome an addiction.
I would practice the piano hard and fierce, I would stay in Germany a bit longer, I would change my relationship with my sister.
But who would I be? Would I be the same? Probably not...
Still, knowing that a small action can change the future significantly I can make smarter decisions now hoping that the result will improve quality of my life. But first of all it give me the notion that I control my future.
i have had this concept in my mind for as long as i can remember. It is easy to wish that you had made a number of different decisions in your life when looking back.... because hind sight is 20/20 right ? lolz.
but when we do this we discount what our experience has led to, that is the culmination of the person you are at this very moment. if the events did not transpire the way that they did then the outcome could be very different.
take for example this diagram of an angle in the image above, if point B is when a decision is made and point A and C represent the outcomes of said decision, we can see that at point B the difference in paths is not too different to begin with but by the time we reach the outcomes the paths are much further apart. Meaning that even a 1mm discrepancy can lead to Miles/Kilometers difference given enough time and space.
Every part of who we are comes down to our experience in life, any change in the history of who you are could have great ramifications to your very existence in the now and what you think. For me, im happy to understand this concept and know that even my darkest moments have shaped me into the person i am and for that i am grateful to have had all my experiences to date :)

I had a think about it and decided that if I changed my past I probably wouldn't have my wife children and grandchildren.
As an aside I don't subscribe to the butterfly effect except when its part of a chaotic transfer of something from one state to another. But then I am a party pooper😛
