Peerplays Crowdfund - New Interface Purchase Instructions

in #peerplays8 years ago (edited)

As an avid gambler, I have been quite interested in the Peerplays project. Taken from their website (www.peerplays.com), Peerplays is the world’s first peer-to-peer betting platform built entirely on top of a live blockchain. It is built using Graphine, which is the same blockchain technology as Steem!

Peerplays has already raised over $4,000,000 dollars through their crowdfund, and they are aiming to raise another $5,000,000. In the current 'tier' (which is 32% sold out at the time of writing this post), you can purchase tokens at $5/ea. (After the current tier sells out, they will go up to $5.20/ea, then $5.35/ea, then $5.45/ea.)

Their interface to purchase tokens has been recently upgraded, and is a lot easier than their old method! To purchase tokens as part of their crowdfund, follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://www.peerplays.com/crowdfund/setup.html
  2. Click the "Download" button to save your public and private keys.
  3. SAVE AND BACKUP THE KEYS. DO NOT LOSE THEM!
  4. Really - Save them. Back them up! Do it now!!
  5. Check the checkbox that says you understand lost keys cannot be recovered.
  6. (Optional) Estimate how many dollars worth of Peerplays coins you can purchase per BTC sent.
  7. Click "Continue"
  8. Send the BTC to the address specified.
  9. Wait a bit for the transaction to clear. (It might take a few hours.)
  10. Go here and enter the public key (from the public/private key pair above) to see how many coins you have: https://www.peerplays.com/crowdfund/viewBalance.html

Here is the info on claiming coins:

This was way easier than their old process. Just funded my first ICO!

Thanks for the tutorial!

Awesome! Good luck - to the both of us ;)

I'm a little nervous - but I believe in the PeerPlay tech.

Same. Any ICO is risky. I think the project has a ton of potential though. I am really excited :)

Nice post. Peerplays does sound very intriguing. Can't wait to see what becomes of it.

Gambling is one of the great use cases for cryptocurrency

@shayne

Thanks for the heads up. I threw a little in there :p

One thing I wonder about Peerplays is if designing games will be simple, or if it takes some kind of coding expertise. Anyone know?

I'm wondering the same thing. I've thought about designing a game for it myself. They appear regularly on the beyond bitcoin show. If you have time to join on Fridays, it would be a great question to ask.

Cool, I'll keep that show in mind, thanks!

Feel free to steal my question yourself if you're there hehe

Interesting. I got involved in this the old way and just put in the address I used as a redemption key, and it did show me a balance, but one a bit lower than I expected. Hmm. I wonder if that will be a problem. I guess I'll find out in about a month or so.

I picked some up that way as well. I also have some of the 'early' coins sitting in my bitshares.openledger account. Not sure about the balance though. It shows what I expect for both accounts. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Ah, I think I see the problem. They probably calculate the number of tokens you get based on the price of bitcoin at the time you send it and bitcoin has gone up in value since I sent it. Very interesting.

Yes, that is how it works.
