Border Collies are Very Smart Dogs...

I'd like to introduce Gaea, our very smart Border Collie. She's actually a herd dog, but since we don't have cows or sheep, she herds chickens, geese, cats, children, deer, airplanes and anything else that moves. She's best pals with our younger Border Collie, Luna. Gaea loves to go on hikes and float trips, but she hates it if there are any stragglers or if anyone gets too far ahead of the group...She's very aware and lets us know if any critters come onto our two-acre organic farm...

Here's Gaea in action. She can catch up to a running deer and just likes to run alongside them. These two played for 30 minutes together.

She usually gets to the ball before it lands...

She's going to catch that ball whatever is required...

She's actually listening for instructions...

Here you go... This is Gaea chasing our cat... (they were just playing)

Wonderful breed. Very high energy dogs from what I've heard from a friend that has 3 running his bison farm. Gaea is adorable.

She's very loving and yes, high energy. If they are not working dogs on a ranch or farm, you have to keep them busy. That's one reason we have two... and play ball a lot. Gaea is in charge of the chickens and there's one chicken that gets out of her coop every day, so Gaea checks about every twenty minutes and if she's out, she herds her back and stares at her until she flies back in... It's very comical to watch...
