Bakawan/Mangroves in Pitogo, Quezon

in #philippines7 years ago

While participating in a tree planting event last weekend,  I captured this little boat rowing around the mangrove forest.

Mangroves (Bakawan) play a vital role in  protecting coastlines from waves. They shield inland areas during storms  and minimize damage.  They stand as the first line of defense for coastal areas.

Mangroves also provide shelter for different species.  These species includes fishes, shells, migratory birds, reptiles and even turtles.

Mangroves also helps in maintaining the cleanliness of water by filtering pollutants and unnecessary waste from land.

These just prove how important mangroves in our ecosystem. We love them, we hope you do too!

Hello, @ajcordenete! Awesome is an understatement to describe this shot. It gives me the Amazon River feels like in that anaconda movie.

Thank you so much! It's a lovely place.

Incredible photo! Also tree planting event? Woah! Would love to know more about that! You should write a post ;-)

Yeah. we plant like a thousand of these mangrove trees. hopefully they will bloom soon. Thank you!

Wow that's absolutely amazing! Good for you! :-)

Thanks again!

That boat made the shot more interesting, breaking the monotony of the water and mangroves.

Yes thank you! I had to catch it though. It was rowing fast.

Awesome shot! I'd like to join a tree planting event someday :)

Yes brother! It was really fun and fulfilling.

JUST WOOOOOOW! been scrolling thru your blogs and I think I am a fan of yours now :) Nice photography :) and the places you've been is really perfect for you to apply your skills :) and I also admire your advocacy. I hope that people living there will protect and continue planting trees.

Followed you so that I won't miss any of your post :)

Thank you! I've been following you since that Zambales camping of yours. Cheers to more adventures this year!

Oh! That's nice :) Thank you :)

I'm not really a traveler maybe because I am not into long drive. I got dizzy easily and sometimes I feel like I wanted to vomit (but glad that I don't) but if given the chance, I would always grab it. Just like my Anawangin escapade. The long drive is worth it when you finally reach your destination. Isn't it? :)

It is definitely really worth it. :)
