MONTE CUEVA : The Magnificent Cave Chapel In Maasin, Leyte

MONTE CUEVA is one of the must see place in Maasin Leyte Philippines. This site located at up of the hill in brgy. Rizal 2km from Maasin City. Monte cueva is a small cave which was developed into a shrine which a quaint chapel.

This is a great experiencing with my leytians frieds. And this is my first time im so excited to see the Monte Cueva Shrine in Maasin City. The chapel located at the top of the hill. Before you see the cave you walk with a zigzagging stairway consisting of more than 550 steps.

After conquering the zigzagging 500+ steps of stair and all leg pain will disappear when you see the beauty of the mountain the very refreshing air and the very unique chapel inside the cave. Monte Cueva, isn’t as large and elaborate as some of historic churches that I’ve been to in the Visayas region. Still, it is without a doubt one of the most extraordinary and strangely beautiful sacred sites I’ve ever seen. Although it’s small, it has wonderful features that your won’t see in other churches, such as its limestone walls.

Aside of the cave there is a place where you can see the mountain, the sea, and the mesmerizing panoramas, the place had a laid-back feel with fresh breezy air. I spent some time contemplating about life there, and enjoying the moment.
