Why you should answer a collector's call

Intro

Answering a collector's call is one of the least things that you will consider doing. Not only it exposes yourself and how you are standing financially. It is also annoying that they are calling you almost every day. However, let us face the fact one way or another we will talk to them and sometimes it works wonders if you will be speaking to one.

Speaking to A Collector Can Eliminate Collection Calls For a Set Period of Time

When I was working for a certain company we are advised that we can call the customer once every day during business hours. 8AM till 5PM their time, if in case that they are not available we can leave a voice mail message and then contact them back after a day or 2 days depending on the balance owed.

Now, receiving phone calls daily does annoy a lot of people especially if you are doing something urgent.

Having said that speaking to someone from the collections can help you lessen the volume of phone calls that you are getting. Yes, you are reading it correctly, if you told them that you can only be contacted during this hour and this specific day then they will honor it ( I can speak to my experience ). However, if you are not reachable during the said time then they will be back on the usual call process.

They can give you more time up to a week or 2 to rest from the phone calls and again that is depending on the balance and behavior of the account.

Speaking to A Collector Can Give You Options To Pay Your Bill

Who doesn't want to get paid right? When you speak to a collector over the phone most of the time they will be asking you to pay the bill onset or will advise you to pay it to the nearest establishment.

However, there are bad days wherein you really don't have any money to pay for the due amount. By speaking to them and telling them about your current situation they can give you some options to at least alleviate your status.

If you are being whacked with finance fees they might have some offers to lessen the fees.
Late payment fees are also a strain in the budget, they might also remove those for you as a 1-time courtesy.

They will not know what your situation is until you pick up the phone and answer it.

Speaking to A Collector Can Help You Resolve Some Billing Issues

There are some instances wherein the bill is kinda hard to understand, charges are popping up and it is confusing to us.

By speaking to someone who is an expert on the bill they can give you an information on what is happened on why the bill is quite high.

The good thing about that is if you do not agree with the charge, with proper evidence and documentation they can assist you in filing a dispute.

In general, disputes are bad for business but if it is an option for the collector to help the customer determine what really happened then we will be happy to file that dispute for them.

The customer should just prepare all of the necessary information in that way the process would go through smoothly and it will not be null and void.

Closing Remarks

No one doesn't want to be put in a situation wherein you will be getting phone calls and believe me sending an account to a third party collections agency is the last resort that your creditor would do.

You will be amazed that sometimes speaking to a collector is like speaking to a friend that cares for you and will look for ways to make things better because if everything is all good and no overdue bills. That is less workload for them but still, all are in a win-win situation.

So before you ignore the phone call that they lodge maybe try to hear them out too. Seasoned collectors don't follow scripts and they are just speaking casually like having a chit-chat but if it is something legal and required by law they will inform you right away.

Do not be afraid also of the recording! If you are not doing anything wrong you can use that as an advantage if ever that your collector doing rude things towards you.

Yan b ang job description m, collector? 😂

Naranasan ko yan one time. Haha. Dpat nmn tlga bayaran kahit anong overdue s payment. Tama naman mas mabuti ung sagutin m kesa dedmahin forever.

What I would suggest would be for SSS to have a collection agency so their funds wouldn't be depleted from all the loans we Pinoys take but never pay. And we expect to get a pension in the future? Whew.

Hahhaha tama yan ang description ko @artgirl and back to being a collector ulit ako.

Mortgage naman ang ihahandle ko na account ngayon.

Hopefully SSS will implement yan kasi ang laki na ng pautang din ng SSS. They are just relying on the "automatic deduction sa salary" nung employee e madalas yung employer mismo hindi nagreremit sa kanila.

Ah BPO ka? Huhu yoko n s BPO pero anjan ung pera. Ah employee life...

Ang problema baka d nila magawa yan kasi dagdag gastos mag-hire p sila ng collecting agency. Luh. Jusko sana maisip n lng ng mga may utang s SSS n dpat nila bayaran un. 😂

Yes balik loob sa BPO. Steemit is Life pero Bills are Lifer ngayon.

Hahha nako masarap mangutang pero hindi masarap magbayad ng utang yan ang laging issue ng ilan. Juice ke lerd.

Trut. Hay buhay. 😂 Ako rin malapit n ma-hire. Sana pumasa. Parang mejo IP relay ata un, hirap pumasa. 😂
