Nuestro contexto se vuelve cada vez más inmediato, impera la instantaneidad en nuestro día a día (hablar con alguien, informar de algo, obtener una respuesta, etc...), no nos gusta esperar nada y todo lo queremos para ahora. Es más fácil buscar una respuesta en Google que pensarla o investigarla. Pareciera que pensar se va relevando a un segundo plano, inclusive un tercero; el grueso de la población venezolana es inactiva intelectualmente —y siempre lo ha sido—.

     El entorno en el que nos encontramos propicia al consumir y no al producir. Sumado a eso, la sociedad venezolana es muy particular: celebra la mediocridad, censura al que destaca y exhibe sus méritos —lo tildan de arrogante y echón, y por el contrario, celebran al inepto—. Esta dicotomización venezolana ha permeado en todos los sectores y cada vez en los más jóvenes de ellos. Un entorno que no fomenta la excelencia sino a todo lo contrario no es propicio para nada, convierte a sus habitantes en unos bandidos buenos para nada. ¡Qué diría Sócrates sobre la virtud del venezolano! Somos un pueblo de bárbaros y mientras se siga fomentando la barbarie nada se podrá hacer con esto.

     Lograr la empresa del pensamiento no será tarea fácil, primero debemos empezar por reconocer que somos, o hemos sido, parte del problema en algún momento. Todos nos hemos dicho ‘no puedo’ hacer tal cosa (o se lo hemos dicho a alguien más), sobre todo en el ámbito académico hemos repetido una y otra vez esta injusticia, haciéndole adquirir el peso de falsa verdad. Esas dos palabras exponen el prejuicio que se tiene a una supuesta incapacidad intelectual de las gentes, no hay nada más falso que esto. Todos podemos, unos con mayor facilidad que otros, a la postre pensar por igual; lo importante no es quién llegue primero a la ‘meta’ sino que lleguemos todos a ella. Como cualquier otra actividad el pensar requiere de práctica, hay que ejercitar la mente para hacerla más ‘rápida y fuerte’, así como se hace con los músculos. Hay que pensar en las cosas, en sus porqués, comprender por qué son de ese modo y cambiarlas si es necesario una vez entendidas; no dar nada por supuesto y jamás volver a decir ‘es que siempre ha sido así’. Con esto no seremos más borregos de los tiranuelos de turno y tendremos un verdadero país, una Nación de desarrollo.

     Los paradigmas deben ser reestructurados, hay que dejar de imponer y, en cambio, enseñar a hacer. Es vano el esfuerzo individual sino hay un esfuerzo colectivo. Solo en la unidad es que seremos capaces de superar a las adversidad y no seremos sometidos más por unos incompetentes que nos ‘gobiernen’. Un pueblo de idiotas merece al más grande idiota para que los gobierne; un pueblo de sabios, al más docto de ellos. Cada pueblo merece lo que tiene (porque crean lo que tienen) y su gobernante es un vivo reflejo de quiénes son.

     «Un pueblo ignorante es instrumento ciego de su propia destrucción», ya Bolívar había predicho nuestro destino. Con fuerza imperativa debemos cambiar nuestra condición actual, mejorarnos para mejorar a nuestro entorno. Nuestro país es nuestra responsabilidad.

     The circumstances in which we find ourselves conduct to consume and not to produce. Added to that, Venezuelan society is very particular: it celebrates mediocrity, it censures the one that highlights and exhibits its merits —They call him arrogant and braggart, and on the contrary, celebrate the inept—. This Venezuelan dichotomy has permeated all sectors and each time in the youngest of them. An environment that does not promote excellence but to the contrary is not conducive to anything, it turns its inhabitants into good bandits for nothing. What would Socrates say about the virtue of the Venezuelan! We are a people of barbarians and as long as we continue to foment barbarism nothing can be done with this.

     Achieving the business of thinking will not be easy, first, we must begin by recognizing that we are, or have been, part of the problem at some time. We have all said 'I can not' do such a thing (or we have told someone else), especially in the academic field we have repeated this injustice, again and again, making him acquire the weight of false truth. Those two words expose the prejudice that one has to a supposed intellectual incapacity of the people, there is nothing more false than this. We all can, some more easily than others, in the end, think alike; the important thing is not who comes first to the 'goal' but that we all reach it. Like any other activity, thinking requires practice, you have to exercise the mind to make it more 'fast and strong', as it is done with muscles. You have to think about things, their whys, understand why they are that way and change them if necessary once understood; Do not take anything for granted and never say 'it's always been like that'. With this, we will not be more sheep of the tiranuelos de turno (tyrants of turn) and we will have a real country, a nation of development.

     The paradigms must be restructured, we must stop imposing and, instead, teach how to do. The individual effort is vain if there is no collective effort. Only in the unity is that we will be able to overcome adversity and we will no longer be subject to incompetents that "government" us. A town of idiots deserves the greatest idiot to govern them; a town of wise men, to the most learned of them. Each town deserves what it has (because they create what they have) and its ruler is a living reflection of who they are.

     "An ignorant people is a blind instrument of their own destruction", and Bolívar had predicted our destiny. With imperative force, we must change our current condition, improve ourselves to improve our environment. Our country is our responsibility.
