What we, Cambodians, should learn from our recent experiment with Communism

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

The most important lesson we, Cambodians, should learn from our recent history is to always beware of people who out of good intentions and compassion want to regulate our lives.

Most evil is done by people who want power in order to do good. Don't make any mistake. These people are all around us.

They are our politicians, our professors, our friends, us.

We must learn from our history to improve, thank you very much for sharing

Just a bunch of unedited comments from the YouTube page for my fellow steemians:
I am a communist and I always thought Pol Pot was a monster. Now I think in a different way.

In any war, bad characters can do bad things. The leaders did never order such things and in opposite did sentence officers who did it. He confesses, that young officers failed and they had problems to see and stop this.

communists are never racists, they are internationalists. Capitalists are enemies, even in the own country, people of other nations and races are brothers.

A nice and good man. I believe any word he says. However, this US propaganda cut only is eager to pull out statements of him that can be mis-interpreted. Disguting ! This interview could have helped to understand the real story - but this interviewer does not want to understand.

I agree with you. The interviewer is a hater. However, the laws of karma or universal justice don't appear to be on the side of Nuon Chea as he was sentenced to life in prison for crimes against humanity. Just saying.

At first, I felt angry at this man but, as the documentary went on, I warmed to him for his passion and patriotism and the obvious fact that he only wanted the best for his people. He is very misunderstood due to western media and propaganda

None of the above were edited and they are 100% authentic. If this doesn't show how much of a cancer communism is, you probably needs to be in a labor camp. I mean with the innovations in robotics us intelligent, productive people will have no need for these stupid human beings.
