Stroking the Demon

in #philosophy7 years ago

When the thoughts bubble up,
Of stomping on that cutsey pup,
You know you have to rein them in,
Demons that dwell under your skin...
The aspects of Soul that most deny,
To truly face them? Most would rather die...

Cleanse your field of not yourself, sure,
But recognize the darkness that is pure,
Not all the shadow is outside of you,
So learn to discern, that which is true...
To integrate, rather than to purge,
Should be what follows the natural urge...

To look away and to deny,
On these actions, they do rely...
Embrace, balance and accept,
And you too will be adept...

Your monsters can cause you constant pain,
Or have you struggling in vain,
Against what IS, and what ought not BE,
Perpetual victimhood is all you’ll see...

However, they can also be a pet,
Giving you comfort when you fret,
Like Cerberus, they stand on guard,
Defending against that which would have scarred...

So don’t neglect, or overfeed,
With self-righteousness or unholy greed,
The devils that lurk inside us all,
Lest to their Will, you’ll surely fall...
