  1. They have been conditioned by the entertainment and media industries to have an irrational fear of guns.
  2. An all powerful state and/or gangsters.
-Children and those who are not mentally fit.
  3. To control and suppress racial minorities and the poor are the historic reasons, now a lot is just partisanship, they pass gun control to stick it to the right and excite their base.
  4. I won't, they of course cannot, drugs are banned and they can't stop those from being easy to get.
  5. People being defenseless against criminals and tyranny.
  6. The prohibition of drugs which has racism and classism at its root.
  7. No. The cat's out of the bag on the gun thing, it's almost a 1000 year old technology, guns are easy to make. Even magic fairy dust that could make all guns disappear would not work for long because people would make more.
  8. Given that the number of people who defend themselves with legal guns is many many times more than the number of people who are killed illegally with guns it would be a violent solution to ban guns.

Thanks for your answers. You seem to have given this topic a lot more thought than most people. My hope is that this series of texts and the comments on them will help a few more people to think about it.
