Cooperation -v- Competition - How do you choose to look at the world? One or the other or do you see both?
By talking with people about this I've discovered we tend to pick a side at how we tend to view the world we live in or our situations. However, these are ultimately polarized points of views. Neither of which are bad in and of themselves. It's just that when we slide into one of these positions choosing one view point over the other, are we not just keeping ourselves stuck by using what we identify with to define us.
This spills over into all areas of life such as politics, religion, friendships. Isn't there a saying "The other side of life". What I've discovered has me looking at the world in a whole new way. That is, that competition needs cooperation and vice versa. For example, to even compete with an opponent in the first place one must agree to cooperate therefore cooperation or working together is in itself born from the need to overcome an obstacle of some nature. Therefore these two aspects really do need each other. Antagonist and agonist muscle pairs are a perfect example of this.
I guess what I'm really describing here is the Yin Yang philosophy. You can't have push without pull, what goes up must come down. So you see, these things are really just one in the same. We as humans just like to divide things up into parts as so they are more easily describable. Anyway, I bring this topic up because I've recently become fascinated with this idea and would like to hear others peoples ideas on this topic so please tell me what you think.
