We Will be Forgotten

Zachary Taylor, John Tyler, and Franklin Pierce. If you ask most people on the street who these men where you'd get a blank stare and an "Uhhh." These men were U.S. presidents. They are have been forgotten by most of the population and amount to little more than a Wikipedia page. How much better will you and I fare? Even most famous actors are destined to be forgotten.

Many people want to leave a legacy. If you have enough money you can start a charitable fund bearing your name. But will you really be "remembered"? There will still come a time when no one alive has ever seen you in person. We will be forgotten. And that's ok. It's not a negative thought, but simply the truth. It's freeing in that we don't have to worry about what other people think of us. We don't have to stress about daily minutae that ultimately doesn't matter.

Our true legacy will be those who we positively affect through our work, our creations and through our kindness. Hopefully in turn we will inspire them to bring kindness, creativity and other good things into the world. In this way, our impact will continue until the end of time.
