I like the observation of the two different modes of interacting with reality - deductive and inductive reasoning (Plato vs Aristotle). Oftentimes, the conversation regarding discovery or concepts fail to distinguish these modalities. Science is inductive reasoning, while mathematics is deductive reasoning. Accurate appreciation of reality necessitates both modes of thinking, as reflected by our brain structure (right vs. left).
Absolutely, they're complimentary, not contradictory, and the same goes for a lot of things.
