PSA - WARNING EOS/Ethereum Fake Airdrop Phishing Scam

in #phising7 years ago (edited)

I received an email today claiming to be from EOS.IO stating there was an Airdrop for holders of EOS and Ethereum and at first, I thought this to be true until I contacted a mod @steempowerpics from the official EOS discord server = https://discord.gg/9GkJv5Y

The email linked to a similarly named site as the official EOS site EOS.IO > EOS.COM with a dot underneath

A dot underneath a letter in a Domain URL(Website Link) as far as I've seen has always been a phising site and should be looked out for.

On visiting the site I was brought to a page claiming to give 15 EOS to 1 ETH which is a ridiculously high offer to make.

Underneath was this asking to visit a FAKE myetherwallet site instead of just requesting address which a real airdrop would only need and not a transfer.

Official MyEtherWallet will always have MYETHERWALLET LLC in green.

Resteeming this will be worth it if eventually even just one more person doesn't get scammed. Good looking out.

I've seen that airdrop before too but didn't take much time on it since it looks scammy and shady.

you sure its the same?
that site was made today and its an exact copy of the EOS site the only difference is the top paragraph's wording and the Airdrop offer

your post is very helpful to us, to always be wary of people who are not opinion
