Soft Power

Soft Power: a persuasive approach to international relations, typically involving the use of cultural influence.

South Korea is amongst the top countries in Soft Power. They lack hard resources, so they export soft resources instead. This is a political strategy, used by many countries, France being one of the biggest culture exporters. Soft power is useful, for it influences other countries styles of thinking and preferences, it can mobilize other countries’ support for foreign and security policies.

Countries use their soft power to improve the external security environment by projecting peaceful and attractive images of a country. It's a co-optive invasion, through culture rather than actual force.

South Korea is VERY proud of their culture, and even until now, songs like "Gangnam Style" are National Pride. They even erected a huge statue in the Gangnam District to celebrate the Mega-Hit, which is still one of Youtube's most watched video of all time. ---- Soft Power!
