Aurora Australis
There are always lots of posts about the northern lights; but few about the southern lights. Here is one I took of the Aurora Australis or southern lights shimmering over the Great Lake of Tasmania's Central Plateau which resides at an elevation of 1,036 m (3,398 feet). Tasmania, Australia. It is a 30sec exposure at ISO2500 and f1.4.
How is everyone finding the new tribes on steem?

Beautiful I have been living in Tasmania for some 14 years and still not seen the Aurora Australis.

It is quite rare to see; you need to onto one of the FB groups or monitor the solar weather apps and then spend time in the high country or in the south where it is dark.
Usually it is cloudy and raining when I find out about them and I don't do Facebook. I live in the west coast of Tasmania so it's always very dark at night.

The apps are the only way to find out ; you need quite strong >kp5 to see with naked eye in tassie and probably kp7 to see in colour.
Cheers thanks I know some friends here that have seen it with the naked eye.

This was at kp4 but it was very very dark where we were; and you could just see in B&W with naked eye. In Canada where I lived you could see in colour at kp4.
Wow nice👍

Awesome shot man. This is something that I am hoping I will be able to experience one day.
I have been lucky to see and shoot both the northern and southern lights. worth seeing.
