Excellent tutorial for lighting photography! I would just add a few tips, is that's okay:

  1. If your lens has built-in stabilization, turn it off when on a tripod. Silly thing to forget and can ruin a shot when tries to find and compensate for shake when there is none
  2. Use the 'Timer' feature to prevent camera shake when pressing the shutter release button (it'll add that extra bit of sharpness)
  3. Combine 'Bulb' mode with time-lapse, if possible, to continuously shoot without missing a thing
    Bonus tip: Turn off noise reduction. Some cameras' software mistake stars for noise and subsequently removes them.
