Smartphone Photography - Here's to being in love...

Hello fellow Steemians!

So, today is Valentine's day, and to do my part, I share a photo of a couple friend of mine.

Besides couples, St. Valentine is also the patron saint of epilepsy, fainting, plague, beekeepers... and greetings card manufacturers, which I find quite funny, given how commercially driven this day is.

We accept, understand and sometimes celebrate foolish behavior under the justification of being in love with somebody, but not when we are in love with an idea, goal or profession.

Why?

Isn't being in love a state of being consumed by and dedicated to something which lifts you up and makes you feel like nothing else matters?

Valentine comes from the latin Valentinus which is derived from valens, meaning strong, powerful and worthy - attributes that are the very fabric of love.

If anything, let this day be a reminder of what it takes to truly be in love, whichever shape your love comes in.

So, here's to being in love... with an idea, with a goal or with a profession, all of which can, at the very least, be just as painful and uplifting as looking into the eyes of your better half.

Olá Steemianos!

Ora, hoje é dia de São Valentim, e para fazer a minha parte, partilho uma fotografia de um casal meu conhecido.

Para além de casais, São Valentim é o santo padroeiro da epilepsia, desmaios, peste, apicultores... e dos fabricantes de cartões comemorativos , o que não deixa de ser irónico, dada a fortíssima componente comercial do dia.

Aceitamos, compreendemos e por vezes celebramos comportamento insensato, ridículo e disparatado sob a justificação de amar alguém, mas não quando se ama uma ideia, objectivo ou profissão.

Porquê?

Amar não é ser consumido por e dedicar tudo o que somos a algo que nos dá a sensação de que nada mais importa?

Valentim vem do latim Valentinus, que deriva de valens, que significa forte, poderoso e digno - atributos que fazem parte do ADN do amor.

Que este dia seja um lembrete do que é necessário para amar, seja lá em que frente for.

Portanto, viva o amor... por uma ideia, por um objectivo ou profissão; todos podem, no mínimo, causar tanta dor ou alegria como olhar nos olhos da nossa cara-metade.
