How I Ended Up In PAKISTAN?

in #photograpgy7 years ago

So, as you would have read my introduction, im really into photography and i never give up a chance to travel to the most exquisite places on the earth. Last summer when i was in Germany, i enrolled myself into AISEC society. To my surprise, i was earmarked to travel to Pakistan. Yes, i was hesitant to go but i knew that this maybe my only chance to go visit the northern areas i.e Swat, Naltar, Gilgit that everyone keeps talking about.

I boarded my flight from Berlin to Islamabad with transit in Dubai. So i was there, in flesh, didnt know a single person there and i was just wishing that someone would be on the other side of the airport to recieve me. I get out of the terminal and to my joy, i see man holding up my name in cardboard, i was relieved. We had fun ride to the AISEC headquarters where i was supposed to meet with my crew who would be traveling up north the very next day. I was really jet lagged so i asked them to show me my room and i slept for 10 hours straight. Anyway i wake at 8:30 pm and my crew is now brain storming where to eat dinner. To my surprise, they asked for my opinion. I didnt know one thing about Islamabad so i said anythiny would be fine by me. We ate bbq and i gotta tell you, these people like their food spicy. We head back to our rooms, i charge all my eqiupment take my xanax (i was hooked at that time)

The day was here, non of us knew we were on the road trip of our lives . I remember wearing my blue jacket as i always considered it to be lucky. We started our journey at 6 am. It was a cool morning with a little drizzle. By this time i had made a few friends in my crew. It was an eight hour journey filled with all kinds of bumps, food, photography (obviously) and laughters. When we reached our destination (Shangrila hotel) i was in awe of what i was seeing. Let me tell you that i have traveled all over europe, asia and some parts of Austrailia but what i was seeing here could not be driscribed into words. It was mother nature herself in the most purest form. You can feel the cold air going down your lungs, you could feel your soul thanking you for coming here, you could feel your feet on the ground like you belong there. I had never felt this way before. Let me tell you that i fell in love with this place, i fell in love with that country. The people, the cuisine, the culture its all so rich and colourful. This made me realize how the mainstream media brain washes us into thinking what they want. Id go back there in a heartbeat.
