A Typical German Ritual on Saturdays
On Saturdays in summer in Germany one can hear from everywhere the sound of mowing machines.
It is a common rule, that the lawn has to be mown once a week.
One could think, that the Germans are superstitious. When they don't clean up their lawns and gardens, then they get caught by a curse.
But the most Germans are not superstitious, they are usually very accurate and everything has to be perfect. To show to the neighbors, that we are orderly people, our gardens in front of the houses are kept clean and proper.
I'm not a typical German. The front of my house looks a bit like a jungle.
And today was the second time in this year, that I mowed the lawn.
