Finland celebrates its 100th Independence Day with some snowfall
Finland celebrates 100 years of Independence today and the timing yesterday of me going out to snap a few photos couldn't have been better as we got some snowfall during the evening. Today I went out for a longer walk to seize the opportunity of taking more photos while the snow hadn't melted away yet as its still not under 0 degrees celsius here.
Flags raised everywhere, there was almost no house or buildings without a flag today.
The weather was a bit cloudy
Living up north during winter time we only get sunlight a few hours a day, this is probably the highest the sun rises before it starts to set again
Walking towards the park, a few candles had been placed at a memorial stone on this day
The Minnow/Dolphin of the park had gotten some snow on its wings
There was an old man walking while throwing bread crumbs on his trail, seemed like all the birds were gathering around and following him, I did followed along for a while too
I liked the reflection in the water here
The football field was all snowed in, but luckily they had already set up the ice rink
The zoom on my camera was not so impressive... :P
Global warming sure must confuse a lot of bird life these days
I love it when everything turns this white
Now as I got hom at 3 PM the sun seems to already be on its way to set. :)
Hope you enjoyed these photos as much as I did taking them!
You live here ?? Blessed with such beauty !!
Thanks, yeah it's nice. :)
I am a British guy and lived in Finland for 22 years.
Lucky you.
That's Great!!! You're Very Luck to live in Such a Beautiful Place!!
Congrats to 100 years of independence!
Snow now I am jealous I miss snow enjoy it and have fun playing in the snow maybe a snow ball fight or building a snowman with steemit logo:)
LOVE&LIGHT for you and Finland!
I'm here with a Finn in Columbia. So thanks for letting me know it was the 100th anniversary of Finnish Independence!
I love when I learn of such timely things on Steemit. She already knew of course.
Love seeing photo's of the North, so different from the South were we live.
Exciting to see snow and even though you have shorter days @acidyo thanks for sharing.
Wow very beautiful capture of wonderful nature. We have never experienced such types of climate in north east part of India. It looks like heavenly very beautiful white velvet carpet on the ground. I think Finland is situated very north in northern hemisphere, so climate is so cold there. I like your post so much, Thanks for sharing such a beautiful post, wish you a very beautiful time ahead.
Happy celebrating the 100th Independence Day for all Finnish people.
Even a century ago Finnish people have felt the ultimate independence, the people also prospered in justice, far different from us in the third country, independent, but still colonized by the injustices of the authorities.
Once again HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY , may the snow fall in winter is part of your meaning of happiness
Beautiful photos and big congratulations on the 100 years Independence Day !
Happy independence day to fabulous Finland . Great historic; Awesome post with nice reflection camera clicks; Blue sky with white clouds seems gorgeous design.
Nice! Looks like we took the lead here in Korea :) it snowed two weeks ago for the first time :) but just a little!
Edit: oh! And happy independence day everyone!
It has snowed a bit before too but only lasted a couple days due to the temperature still being too warm. :)
