Banner Peak in Ansel Adams Wilderness

Banner Peak
Banner Peak is one of the most scenic peaks in the Sierra Nevada. It's the 2nd highest summit in the Ritter Range with Mount Ritter having a 200 feet advantage.
Unlike Mount Ritter, Banner Peak is considerably slimmer with a sharp profile; it's surrounded by 1500-2000 feet high vertical cliffs except for the southwest side. Banner Peak is better photographed approaching in the northeast as it appears to be floating on the huge 2-mile broad seas of the Thousand Island Lakes - that's where this view is.
Banner Peak shares the identical access points with Mount Ritter. The nearest trailhead is Agnew Meadows with an altitude of 8200 ft. By Agnew Meadows, choose Shadow Lake Trail to Banner-Ritter's east side, or Thousand Island Lake Trail to Banner's west or north sides.
The surrounding wilderness area is among the most popular backpacking destinations in California, akin to Yosemite National Park. The Ansel Adams wilderness used to be part of Yosemite but was detached in 1905 because of conflicting issues over mineral rights in the region.
I did a 3-day loop in the area and subsequently wrote about the adventure. Stay tuned.

There is nothing beautiful than nature
Beautiful! It would be so good for people if they could spend time in the wilderness.
Yes absolutely need to get out there and explore :)

Ansel Adams, I've been here,
Hiked all over the park, spectacular beauty,
This shot of Banner Peak,
the Composition is Junx-ed one...snow still on the Peak, yet freshly grown green grass and flowers, as is the light placement, Sun on the Peak,
Shade for the Lake and shore.
This is a rich photo and well
Choreographed, even if you didn't mean too..
Lynn
Thanks :) I was pitching my tent somewhere and the sun was going down so I naturally just grabbed my camera to take photos of the peak.
If you haven't already, you might put the best of your portfolio with stories throughout about your adventures of these shots,
