Fort Munro (Tuman Leghari) a hill station in Sulaiman Mountain range at a height of 6,470 feet above sea level. It is more of a cool resort so magnetize a large score of tourists for refreshment every year because it is the only hill station of southern Punjab. Baloch tribes live in this area.

History

In the later part of 19th century, it was founded by Robert Groves Sandeman and named Fort Munro after the commissioner of the Derajat Division, Colonel Munro.

Climate

This range splits the KPK and Punjab province from Balochistan province. The average height of this range is 6,000–7,000 feet and the highest peak, 18,481 feet high is called Takht-i Sulaiman (Solomon's Throne).

Tourism

The term “Fort” is generally mistaken as a military outpost however it is more like a calm hill resort with a bunch of gardens and orchards. Many people visit it in hot summer particularly from southern Punjab to enjoy the nice and pleasant weather. The Punjab Government has raised funds for its development and facilitate tourists.
Two weeks ago, I visited it with my family and relatives. Actually, we were visiting our relatives in Multan on Eid and it was very hot in Multan, so we planned to visit Fort Munro, which is about 185 kilometers from Multan.
I captured some pictures

We ate lamb and chicken in Fort Munro, which was roasted over coals. It is called Sajji by the locals and served with rice. Its taste was matchless.
