Art walk on the Malecon
These pictures were taken on the Malecon here in Puerto Vallarta. There is a lot of art on the Malecon, a lot more than I have shared here.

I like his shoes. It looks like he has seaweed on his shoulder. I wish I knew the story. Do you?

To me, this looks so steampunk-ish. Don't you think? It's really unusual.

There were a lot more of these, but I only took pictures of two. They all have different faces.
I think it's some sort of sea creature?
Looks alien doesn't it? All of these are bronze statues.

You can actually climb this ladder and take a picture on it. There are two of these creatures on this ladder and on in front of the ladder with a surprised face. I don't know what to make of it. It feels like each piece tells some sort of story. Except, I don't know what the story is. Or, maybe that is the point. Maybe they are meant to spark the imagination.
This one is very different from the rest. Beautiful mermaid. She is right beside and facing the next statue.
Poseidon maybe? I may be wrong. Does anyone know?
Letters on the Malecon. A lot of tourists take pictures in front of these.
A dolphin water fountain. I learned today that dolphins do drugs. Have you ever heard about this? Apparently they poke this fish that releases something that makes them high. And then they pass the fish around so they can all poke it, and can all get high. I mean, can this be true? I haven't looked it up yet. But it seemed really shocking!
People in Mexico love to dance. Every weekend there are dances. Every weekend. Anyone can join. I haven't joined. I am not coordinated. Haha. But, I love that people do it. I think that's very cool. It's held in the public areas/squares in the different subdivisions around Puerto Vallarta.
I think this is supposed to be a sea urchin. Sea urchins are very very painful if you step on them. Don't step on them! Just don't!

I love these! I would not be surprised to find out this is true about the dolphins. There are some extremely intelligent creatures in the ocean, one of which is definitely the dolphin.
I think there is more going on with these than what means the eye. The people who created them know some stuff.
I think you will appreciate this site. It gives a little history behind some of these sculpures. Some look quite ancient, especially those heads.
Despite the description of the sculpture that looks like waves or a snail, I cannot help but to notice what is a slight resemblance to The Eye of Horus.

Thanks for the share, the sculptures are awesome! I have always loved Mexican culture, art and food. Living in California we are exposed to much of it, but nothing compares to the country itself and the life therein.
My wife and I went to Mexico for our honeymoon and had the most wonderful time. We are planning another trip soon and thinking either Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan.
Yes, I absolutely love it here. The people are very nice. There is art everywhere. And, goodness, don't get me started on the food. Amazing food. Everywhere. I love Mexico sooo much. I am so grateful to be living here. I've actually never been to Mazatlan. But, I can tell you that Puerto Vallarta is a lovely place! I believe all the pictures (that I took) on my blog are from this area if you're interested in having a look. :)

Puffer fish. It’s true 😎. I’m in Lo de Marcos just an hour north. I’ve been wanting to do a day on the Malecon. Do they allow bicycles or just pedestrians on the Malecon?

I believe they even rent bicycles somewhere on the Malecon (but I don't know where exactly). It is usually not very busy, you could ride a bike through, I see people do it. There is a lot more art as well. Lo de Marcos is beautiful as well! It's a very nice place.
Yeah, isn't that crazy about the dolphins? It blew my mind! I heard that for the first time today. I am surprised!
Thanks so much for getting back to me on the bicycle question. Next time we drive in to Costco we’ll have to bring our bikes and check it out. I’ve been wanting to.
It’s pretty interesting about the dolphins getting their buzz on. I guess all intelligent creatures like to explore an alternate state of mind from time to time.

Your information about sea urchins is definitely the truth. I was a dive instructor for a few years and it seemed like almost every trip an inexperienced diver ended up with those spines in their leg. Very painful and there really isn't much that you can do about it either. We used to roll a battery on them and crush the spines so that your body could consume them faster.... it still takes many days! Pretty agonizing.
