The Wanderer

Let's start this off with a picture I took last week. A friend of mine approached me and said that he needs a series of photos for a university assignment and asked for my help.

The Idea

He wanted to create a picture that is loosely based on the painting "Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer" by Caspar David Friedrich. (The wanderer on top of the sea of fog)

We wanted to take this picture from 1818 and bring it into the present time.
The original has a very bright look into the future even though the exact contents are hidden by the fog. We used a more dark and grim looking setting for the present but replaced the fog with reflective water, saying that the future ahead is not unknown but is a reflection of what we do.
Just one person holding a, in this case, bright umbrella reflects light into the darkness and lights the way ahead! We as people decide what the future brings, both on a personal level and global level.
