Lads at Whistler – New Years 2018
Having finished my first semester at UBC, I returned to my hometown of Ottawa to visit my family. I hadn’t seen them since September except over Skype and Facetime, so it was amazing to get back and visit over the holidays. Admittedly, the snowfall in Vancouver caused all sorts of flight delays, so I arrived home some 7 hours later than I should have (and missing a few pieces of luggage) but that all got sorted out the next day. In any case, going from the balmy 7 degrees Celsius that Vancouver enjoys into Ottawa’s -26 degrees blizzard was a bit of an abrupt change, and I loved it. Here's a quick shot of the river at the cottage:
Having grown up in a city where it snows four or five months of the year, it’s been odd, to say the least, to be living in such a different climate where a centimeter or two of the fluffy goodness is considered a heavy storm. All told, my trip home was a welcome respite from being away for so long.
Last picture of Ottawa I took, sorry for the snapchat overlays!
I returned to Vancouver (wait, sorry Nick, to Burnaby) at the end of December, spending a night over at @nickwilliams’ house. He’s the other in our band of the “3 Musketeers” at UBC. Big thank you to him and his family for hosting me over the end of the holidays. Nick and I went to Whistler for the next two nights, staying with @maxy-hopkins and his family (thanks to them too) over New Year’s and ripping a few AMAZING days in the Jersey Cream/Crystal zones for those of you that know the mountain (side note: Max is a snowboarder, but Nick and I have forgiven him). Here are some of the photos we grabbed while we were up there – there was a big dump of snow right before we got there, followed by some beautiful bluebird days. I’ve used some of them as desktop photos on my laptop – feel free to download them if you want, I’d be happy to know a couple of others are enjoying them too! Anyhow, hope you all get a chance to see mountains like these in person. It’s breathtaking.
In case anybody's wondering, these were taken just to the side of the lift at Crystal.
I went back to Quebec for the holidays and yes it was soooo cold!! And they have so much snow already heheh Vancouver weather is definitely appreciated
Nice to visit
