The magical Northern Lights from Senja Island in Norway.

This has to be the most amazing natural event that I have ever had the chance to experience. While traveling the Norway for work, we had hoped that we would whiteness a display of northern lights, but as luck had it for the whole week we were there the skies were cloudy or there was no activity. Finally on our last night while looking outside we noticed slight colours in the sky and though we would have to give it a go.

We travelled out of the small town we were staying at to escape the light pollution and we were treated to the most beautiful display of colour that I have ever seen. It took me a moment to even set up my camera as I was just in awe of the beauty of this event. The moon lit up the snowy foreground with these amazing trees reaching up in to the skies. We braved the -15c temperature for a couple of hours to take it all in before all heading back, blown away by what we just whitnessed.

An experience that I will never forget!

Very nice post.

Amazing ! I hope to take a cool picture like this one day

Thanks @bitcoinman - the great thing about night sky photography is that you don't need expensive equipment to do it. With a steady tripod and long exposure anyone can do it! I may write up a tutorial guide in the next few days on capturing the night sky with cameras

Great photo! Definitely on my bucket list for sure! Do you know if Norway is the best place to see this amazing phenomenon? I have heard there are other locations the world as well. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks @breshepard! Norway is known as one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. Svalbard in particular is a very good location for it, but they can also be seen from Iceland, Alaska etc. Occasionally they are seen here in Australia from Tasmania for the southern lights, but we are still relatively far from the pole so the displays aren't as vibrant. I hope one day you get to experience it, you will be lost for words!

Thank you! I have family traveling to Alaska doing a cruise this week. It is another bucket list item, perhaps when I go I can plan it in the time of year that the lights are visible. :)

Fantastic picture. Love the way the moon bounces off the snow there. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment!

that's amazing!

Nice pictures, following you now :)

Marvelous shot @blakecastle. Upvoted, resteemed & DPS. Please state if you would want to be featured in the “Daily Photo Selection” with a linked photo, or with link only without a photo. We are making a list of photographers who are ready to improve the visibility of their work through the DPS.

It can be a fascinating sight, especially in live, when the veils of colorful lights are moving. But this photo is always amazing! Now you have a new follower. Up and resteemed of course!

Norway is one of my dream country to travel and i want to see the northe light. It is in our calendar with my wife. @blakecastle thanks for the post, upvote and follow you
