Patras - Street art factory / Straßenkunstfabrik

| On that rather productive day that already spawned a church post & an SMS View (& will spawn another church post), I came across an abandoned factory near the coast. | An dem recht produktiven Tag, der bereits einen Kirchenbeitrag & einen MBM-Blick hervorbrachte (& eine Kirche wartet noch), kam ich auch an eine aufgegebene Fabrik in der Nähe der Küste. |

| I was first attracted to small church (which is for a future post) beside it. But when I was taking pictures, I noticed this streetcar (in the background you can see the church): | Mich hatte eigentlich eine kleine Kirche daneben interessiert (der ich mich in der Zukunft noch widmen werde). Aber als ich diese fotografierte, fiel mir diese Tram auf (im Hintergrund sieht man die Kirche): |

| The streetcar stood in the yard of an abandoned factory, & on the walls were numerous graffiti. I was impressed by the quality of some of those. The title photo is part of a bigger piece, which includes 2 hands. This is the left hand, with a sliced finger: | Die Tram stand im Hof einer verlassenen Fabrik, & an den Wänden gab es zahllose Graffiti. Manche davon waren von beachtlicher Qualität. | From a distance, it looked fairly convincing. But when I got closer, it turned out to be some kind of carnival float. On the inside, you can see the driver's seat: | Aus der Ferne sah das Ding recht überzeugend aus. Aber es stellte sich als eine Art Karnevalswagen heraus. Innen kann man den Fahrersitz sehen: |

| Then I went around the back of the factory to see whether there were more graffiti. There weren't many, not really good ones, anyway. But I found another major water leak: | Danach ging ich um die Fabrik herum, um zu sehen, ob es mehr Graffiti gab. Viele gab es nicht, jedenfalls keine guten. Aber ich fand mal wieder einen Wasserrohrbruch. |

| There are so many water leaks here that I'm not surprised when they need a week or so to repair one. But this leak was so big that the water authorities must have noticed it for the loss of water alone. Yet, this one must have been there for weeks, maybe months. | Davon gibt es hier soviele, daß es mich nicht wundert, wenn es schonmal eine Woche dauert, bis einer repariert wird. Aber dieses Leck war so groß, daß es dem Wasserwerk allein schon wegen des massiven Wasserverlustes hätte auffallen müssen. Dennoch schien das Wasser schon seit Wochen geflossen zu sein, wenn nicht seit Monaten. |

| It had formed a little stream with waterloving plants around it. The reason why there could be such a major leak was that it was probably the feed for a water tower. I wonder why they didn't shut it off when the factory went out of business. | Es hatte sich schon ein kleiner Bach gebildet, mit wasserliebenden Pflanzen drum herum. Der Grund für dieses massive Leck war die Tatsache, daß es wohl der Zufluß für einen Wasserturm war. Frage mich allerdings, warum man den nicht abgesperrt hatte, als die Fabrik aufgegeben wurde. |

| The buildings may be used as a storage facility for carnival stuff, but I doubt that they would need a working water tower for that. Oh, well... So much for that, just a few more pics: | Die Gebäude könnten noch als Lager für Karnevalskram genutzt werden, aber ich bezweifle, daß man dafür einen funktionierenden Wasserturm bräuchte. Nunja, ...
