Harvest Moon

Octobers Full Moon is also known as the Harvest Moon. It is not only a symbol of harvest season, but a sign that fall is here and its not going anywhere!!

Yesterday evening we where harvesting food for the next few days (irnonically?) and ended up staying later than expected.

The sun sunk behind the hills as the darkness & moist air fell upon us. After loading up vegetables for our Farm Manager, Cain & I scurried to the car with arms full of veggies for ourselves, gently placing the tomatoes in a secure place before throwing the rest of the harvest in and speeding away. We ended up going around the lake, only to be welcomed by the massive nightlight in the sky.

It brings back so many memories, the moon.

One of my favorites are with my older brother. When we where younger we lived in alaska, and my grandparents lived ontop of a mountian called Tenderfoot, needless to say it was excellent for sledding. Whenever the moon was out, we would go moonlight sleeding with individual sleds. Spending hours outside in the crisp alaskan winter air, using the moon as our light. We would even walk sometimes over a mile to gather our two friends and race each other on the sleds. We also had a dog named Shadow that would tag along everytime & even ride on the sled with us! It was such a blast!! I definitely don't want to miss any moonlight sledding this winter.
