[Photography + Art] Nostalgic Roses
[Photography + Art] Nostalgic Roses
A couple of bright colored roses and an old black and white picture of my late grandfather in the background set the stage for the nostalgic feeling that I perceive in this photograph.
Is it just me or is it really nostalgic?
For the more artistic rendering of this photograph I went in two directions. In the first one I tried to cheer things up a bit and lighten it up a little in a minimalist way...
The main elements of the composition are still there, but I think it looks a lot more cheerful and bright, almost like a watercolor painting. Then I went in the other direction and got the following.
In this rendering although there are a lot of bright colors, the general tone of the image is even more nostalgic or 'blue', while it almost looks like a real oil painting of some impressionist artist.
Photography, art, or what?
What happens when one tries to imitate the other?
Is this a black and white photograph of Barbara Palvin?

At first glance it looks like a photograph, but actually it isn't although it wants to be one. This is a hyper realist drawing by Brazilian Fernando Bueno who also happens to be a photographer, and in case you're having doubts about that, below is a photograph of his drawing board with the work in progress.
And here's his drawing board

Sometimes life imitates art, and sometimes art imitates life. Sometimes one does a better job than the other, and sometimes also vice versa.
Would something too hyperrealistc be considered not art?
