Mountain Majesty

in #photography6 years ago

There's something about the mountains that have always drawn me to them, which could explain why I post so many photos of them. Having grown up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains (one of these days I'll do a post on my kinfolk, the Hatfields & McCoys) I'm quite at home in the mountains and often use my photography as an excuse to get back to the mountains. This particular mountain is in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming although I'm unsure of its name. While these mountains are much younger and taller than my beloved Appalachia they still bear many similarities. The old joke about us hillbillies having one leg shorter than the other from walking all the time on the steep slopes is just as apt there as it is back home, they just haven't had as many feuds yet.

Since @monochromes has the #monomad contest going on I might as well enter this into it. Below is the color version, which do y'all prefer? Anybody else have a particular kind of terrain/environment that they prefer to spend their time in?

Just in case I don't post again before then, Happy New Year's y'all!
