Sony Alpha Blog #1: My Brisbane City Outing

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Hello friends and welcome to my first Steemit blog! I am kicking off by sharing my experience with you on my recent visit into the heart of Brisbane city, where I tested out my new Sony Alpha series camera and Sigma MC-11 converter. My dear friend lent me his Canon 16-35mm lens for me to test out before purchasing myself! Here is a small folio and personal favourite from the day. Let me walk you through my experience:

Wave Structure 16mm (1 of 1).jpg

this image was my personal favourite from the day. The wide angle really captures the broad metal structure above me that almost resembles a massive wave crashing over and swallowing the city

Anzac Memorial 16mm (1 of 1).jpg

Taken in Anzac Square memorial, I positioned myself a little low, to give that 'larger than life' feel to the subject. It blows my mind that this memorial was made so long ago now, in 1929. Lest We Forget

City Structures 16mm (1 of 1).jpg

Hey this one is a little different! I actually got lost and stumbled upon this building. I honestly thought i was trapped inside until I realised the door only swings one way. Anyway, I was really interested with the linework of this image because of my wide angle, so i tried to take advantage of the situation by going for that symmetrical vibe. This picture is a little different for me, but I guess thats why I like it

City Trees 16mm (1 of 1).jpg

Last but not least is my 'conrete jungle' image (Ha ha). I really enjoyed pointing my camera up for most of my visit to the city, as you can see in this image. The trees and foliage in this particular area really blend with the buildings (surpisingly) and gives it a really fresh feeling rather than just conrete walls everywhere. It kind of reminds me of that movie Planet Of The Apes in a way. Blame my crazy imagination. Brisbane is such a clean, well kept city and I am proud to live where I do!

Thanks for reading my first blog and please let me know what you think of my work and progress : )
