Tripping down memory lane - Gansbaai to Gordon's Bay
In June 2014 hubby and I undertook a day trip visiting some small towns in the vicinity of the small fishing village of Gansbaai where he used to fish from at that point in time. (Gansbaai directly translated is Goose Bay 🤔😂)
Many South African town names do not translate well due to its Afrikaans (similar to Dutch) roots.
We started our trip to the small town of Napier via Baardskeerdersbos having to take a dirt road with our 4 by 4 truck as they were busy with some roadworks along the route.
change of route ahead
Some dirt road driving
stopping to pose at some old buildings on the way
some really old architecture seen in Napier
An old ruïne on the farm where we stopped to greet friends
The friend is a pig farmer so I had to snap the little piggies
Another road out of Napier
Leaving the town of Napier we drove to Hermanus and stopped by the lagoon for a picnic.
Hermanus Lagoon
A superb sunset
We spent the night in Hermanus and continued our trip to Gordon's Bay the following day via the small towns of Betty's Bay, Rooi-Els and the magnificent Clarence pass.

Miles and Miles of mountain pass with an awesome Seaview all the way

A hut for the shark spotters, once they spot sharks the waters needs to be evacuated asap
A rock pool for day trippers to use for safe bathing
I hope you've enjoyed this trip though memory lane with me. We undertook this trip in June 2014 so it's quite a while ago. These are places that lies close to my heart as this is my place. My soul place. Where my heart is. ❤️

I'm also not upvoting yet. No worries. I'm hoping to be 100% by tomorrow. It's been five days. Thank you for stopping by. The photos are from nearly five years. We've lived many places in South Africa so we traveled alot while we lived there. I love that place a lot.

Excellent photos!
If you want to enjoy the sea without sharks, come to Portugal. There are no sharks here. At all.
😂 I'm lucky in that Mauritius also have no sharks. But Portugal is on my wish list. We've got a friend with a house there and he's offered it to us for a visit so it might become true quicker than we think. 😊
