Do we really need a good cameras for great photos?

Hello Steemians!

I'm not a professional photographer or anything similar. I'm just a guy who's enjoying a good photos. So there comes a question: 'What is a good photo?'. Of course, there are a lot of things that are important for good photo like composition, lighting, colors, eye path etc. But, like any other form of art, photography is very subjective so you may like something or you don't. Simple as that.

People think that for good photos they need to have a good camera. Again, what is a good camera? I think that the best camera is the one you have with you. And the truth is, we always have a smartphone with us. I'm not saying that smartphone cameras are the best. Of course not. I just want to encourage you people to take photos with a smartphone because we all have one and the quality of today smartphone cameras is really good.

Here is a few photos I took with my Nexus 5.

Few tips for smartphone photography:

1. Don't use digital zoom.

2. Try shooting from different angles.

3. Post-process your photos.

4. Take more photos.

Remember, every photo you take is a moment you will remember. Don't be lazy to capture a moment.

A good photographer can take good photos with a shoe box with a small hole in it, but he can't make all the photos he would want without something better. Also, a good camera makes it easier to take pictures, but the pictures are not necesarily better. What is in the picture is always the most important.

i definitely agree with you .

Great post. Love this in particular:

An expensive camera just gives you more options and flexibility when the light isn't perfect and for being creative. In good circumstances a phone could take a similarly good photo (in the same hands). The DSLR or medium format cameras just let you do more things in a wider variety of circumstances.

Yes.

The whole the "gear does not matter" narrative is BS. Yes gear is only part of the solution, however gear does matter. After all you could simple draw everything in the sand still of gear did not matter.

Amazing pictures. Great job. You are the reason why canon & co are dieing.

Haha i dont think so but thank you.

Very nice photographs.

Thank you for posting @duxization. Yes, compostion is key...no matter how good the quality...the eye cannot appreciate it where composition is not found.
Lovely photographs...especially the one with the three boats in the water as @cryptofiend has indicated.

Thank you for your support. All the best. Cheers.
