Time for the Hyachintus orientalis, an entry for the Petals contests #flowers

in #photography7 years ago

The name Hyachinthus comes from the Greek mythology hyakinthos (gem), an allusion to the beauty of the young Hyachinthus. It originates from the European and Mediterranean regions. Initially hyacinths were cultivated by the ancient Greeks and Romans, being appreciated for its strong smell. Hyachintus orientalis began to be marketed in the seventeenth century by the Dutch, selling bulbs at exorbitant prices, making the smile a rare plant owned by the richest collectors. Large, bulky bulbous plant reaching a 21 cm circumference with white or blue tunic or purple tunic, straight line rosette, fleshy edges and little tipped inside. The flowers are grouped into terminal races of different sizes, varying in variety, bulb size and culture. Coloration has a very wide range of shades: from pure white to yellow, red and dark purple, in monochrome or polychrome inflorescences. Through chromatic multitude they can satisfy the most refined tastes. The floral stem reaches 15-30 cm long.

I think the white one just looks exquisite to me. There's something serene about it.
