Hi!

So I was shooting birds Yesterday, and it turned out to be a nice day for getting amazing shots!

All the mallards were sleeping like that. I guess they had had a busy day.

Those barnacle geese were funny as they seemed a bit undecided on where to settle.

Then I saw two mute swans with their cygnets. Adorable sight!

But I kept shooting, and here are the two ugly ducklings that came to check my camera.

The mother swan was also interested, but I had a feeling her interest was more cautionary than friendly.

The geese were forced out of the water by the father swan.

(I was a bit too far away and didn't get an opportunity to watch him shake and rattle one of the geese chicks. One of the guys sitting on the bench told me about it later.)

Don't ask me what the plant below is. I have no idea. Vera guessed it might be some species of knotweed.

When I was leaving, I quickly stopped on the other side of the little Pikkuvesijärvi pond, and found the swan family again. So I took a few more photos.

It was getting a bit dark so I had to shoot at ISO 1600+3200.

After I got enough photos of the swans, I drove to the Vesijärvi harbour, and found a different aviary animal.

Thanks!

Winning competitions sounds nice.

I think we might have resolved the flag issue by now.

sir, which camera is best for wildlife photography?

This is a good question!

Almost any camera will do, but you will definitely need a good lens. My camera (Canon EOS 550D) is almost 10 years old, and has a cheap EF 75-300mm III zoom lens that's dubbed by many photographers as "the worst lens Canon has ever produced". So, depending on your skills, practically any other 70-300mm or 75-300mm than this particular lens will likely give you better quality images than these.

Excellent shot. Really looking beautiful.
