Nice post donkeypong. Right up my alley ;0) And I've never seen mistletoe grow! I'll have to keep an eye out for the stuff.
Regarding leaves as compost...In late fall, I like to put the bag on the mulching mower and collect a nice mulchy mix of green grass clippings along with the dropped leaves and then put that combo on the garden. This way, there is a combo of nitrogen (fertilizer) and carbon.
