Tetrapylon , Aphrodisias TR

◇◇ Take the Long Way Home ◇◇ It was a beautiful mid-Septemder day, warm and sunny, and I was on my way home from İzmir (Smyrna), when I made a detour to Aphrodisias to stretch my legs a bit.. I do the same every year; I take a short break at the ancient site, eat mom's meatball sandwiches at the cafeteria, and take some pictures.
Almost two thousand years ago, Augustus said "Aphrodisias is the one city from all of Asia I have selected to be my own" , and the citizens carved it on the walls of their theater. Well deserved.
This city is so fascinating and makes me so happy that I want to visit her once or twice a year for a catch up.. That's why I take the long way home....
